Can sod be laid on top of sand that was underneath a pool or should the sand be removed? Thanks

SOME sand in the soil is good for growth and drainage, but putting sod on pure sand isn't recommended. It would be best to amend the sand with some organic material or topsoil by using a rototiller to mix the two together. Pure sand really will not be able to hold any nutrients in place for the grass to use. If you must lay it on pure sand, frequent watering and fertilization will be required.
